Significant endeavors

Women in Tech

Toptal will partner with Web Summit this year to arrange the Women in Tech Lounge, which will include roundtables, masterclasses, talks, and meetings. Since its commencement in 2015, female involvement has increased dramatically, growing from 42% in 2016 to 50.5 percent in 2021. In November 2021, more women than males attended Web Summit for the first time.

Sustainability

In compliance with its 2030 Sustainability Strategy, Web Summit has eliminated plastic by up to four tonnes by using sustainably generated and 100 percent recyclable attendance badges and startup boards. Over the last four years, Web Summit has reduced single-use plastic by introducing alternatives such as recyclable cardboard water cups at free water refill stations throughout the venues, glass bottles of water on stages and in lounges, and cardboard cartons of water sold by onsite food and drink vendors.
